A Personal Relationship with God
The Problem

In all relationships, conflict happens. As humans, we have offended God because he designed us to be like him: good, truthful, unselfish, etc. Instead we choose to go our own independent ways, either through passive indifference toward him, or actually going against what he created us to be. For example, who hasn’t lied, been self-centered, or worse?

The Solution

To enter into a true and honest relationship with God, we have to admit that we have fallen short of what he wants us to be. We have to understand and acknowledge that Jesus came to the earth and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our wrongdoings. Just like in a court of law, in God‘s justice system, a penalty had to be paid for our offenses. We have to acknowledge and accept this payment in order to begin a new relationship with God, surrendering to live as he wants us to from now on.

A New Beginning

If it’s your heart’s desire to do this, you can simply pray something like, “Lord, I acknowledge that I’ve been living my own way instead of yours, which has offended you. I accept that Jesus paid the penalty for these wrongs, and I now want to live the way you want me to. Please make me into the person you created me to be.“
